Eastside LA neighborhoods
Hillside streets, older bungalows and Spanish homes, reservoirs and canyon parks.

LA's Eastside runs from the hills around Silver Lake and Los Feliz out through Northeast LA, the cluster of older neighborhoods along the Arroyo Seco and the 2 and 110 freeways. Most of it is the City of Los Angeles, built out in the streetcar era of the 1910s and 1920s, so the housing is older than much of the city: Craftsman and Spanish bungalows, hillside homes on winding streets and stairways, and a remarkable number of houses by modernist architects.
Expect hills, views of the San Gabriels and Downtown, reservoirs, big parks like Griffith Park and Elysian Park, and main streets lined with cafes, wine bars and restaurants. Lots are often small or sloped, and hillside homes come with their own inspections and rules.

Storybook and Spanish bungalows on flat streets, a lively strip along Glendale Boulevard, and the LA River with Griffith Park just across it.

Craftsman bungalows, hillside mid-century homes, and a main street full of restaurants, tucked against the hills near Pasadena.

A lotus-filled lake, Victorian hillsides, Dodger Stadium over the ridge, and Downtown just down the hill.

Hillside bungalows above Eagle Rock Boulevard, a state park on an old rail yard, and the LA River at the bottom of the hill.

1920s Spanish and Tudor homes on foothill streets, a busy downtown along Brand Boulevard, and the Verdugo Mountains right behind it all.

Craftsman bungalows and Victorians in the Arroyo Seco, with two of the Eastside's best restaurant streets and a Metro rail stop in the middle.

Griffith Park as your backyard, 1920s estates in the hills, and two great shopping streets in the flats.

Winding hilltop streets, houses tucked into the trees, and views from Downtown to the San Gabriels, minutes from the Arroyo.

Hillside homes by famous architects, a reservoir at the center, and Sunset Boulevard's best stretch of cafes.
