The San Fernando Valley sits north of the Santa Monica Mountains, linked to the rest of LA by the 101, the 405 and the canyon roads. Most of it is the City of Los Angeles, from Studio City and Sherman Oaks along Ventura Boulevard out to Encino, Tarzana and Woodland Hills, with Burbank as its own city to the east.

This is where LA's lots get bigger: more single-story ranch and mid-century homes, more pools, more square footage for the money, and hillside homes south of the boulevard. Summers run hotter than the coast, and the studios in Burbank and Studio City are right next door.
