Zip code 90043, Mar 2026 to May 2026, from the Redfin Data Center. 90043 covers View Park, Windsor Hills and Hyde Park; the western edge of Windsor Hills falls in 90056 with Ladera Heights. Zip codes don't line up neatly with neighborhood borders, and medians hide a wide range of homes, so treat these as a rough feel for the area.
The Los Angeles Investment Company, the same firm behind Hancock Park, began laying out View Park in the 1920s, and it filled in over about four decades with revival-style and mid-century homes by architects including Raphael Soriano, Paul Haynes and Leopold Fischer. In July 2016 nearly 1,800 properties here were listed together on the National Register of Historic Places, making View Park one of the largest historic districts in the country.
The homes
View Park, on the eastern slopes of the Baldwin Hills, was developed by the Los Angeles Investment Company from the 1920s onward, and because it filled in over decades, you'll find several eras side by side. Spanish Colonial Revival and Mediterranean Revival homes with tile roofs and arched windows sit near later period revival houses and clean-lined mid-century homes, many set behind large front lawns, some with pools and guest quarters. Streets curve with the hills, and higher blocks have views toward Downtown and the basin. The district's architects include Raphael Soriano, Paul Haynes, Leopold Fischer and Robert Earl, and at least one documented house is by Paul R. Williams. See our guides to Spanish homes and mid-century modern homes.
Windsor Hills, just west, was laid out in the late 1930s by the Marlow-Burns Development Company and was the first Southern California subdivision to receive mortgage insurance from the new Federal Housing Administration. It has Spanish Colonial Revival, Mediterranean Revival and minimal traditional homes on gently sloping streets.
The feel
- The streets are the draw: wide, curving and tree-lined, with big lawns and a consistent 1920s to 1960s look that earned the National Register listing.
- Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area sits just north, with a fishing lake, a Japanese garden and trails with views from Downtown to the ocean. Rueben Ingold Park, the neighborhood park, connects to it by the Stocker Trail corridor.
- Slauson Avenue, around Overhill Drive, has a cluster of cafes and restaurants, from a supper club to a health food market.
- Leimert Park Village and the restored Vision Theatre are a few minutes north. See our Leimert Park guide.

Good to know
- Unincorporated LA County. Building permits, zoning and code questions go through LA County, not a city hall. Check the LA County Department of Regional Planning for what applies to a specific lot.
- Historic district. National Register listing is largely honorary for private owners, but it can matter for some permits and preservation incentives. Ask about a home's status before planning big exterior changes.
- Hillside lots and older homes. On sloped lots, look at foundations, retaining walls and drainage. For houses from the 1920s to the 1960s, check sewer lines, electrical, roofs and any unpermitted additions.
- Transfer taxes. The City of LA's Measure ULA generally doesn't apply in unincorporated county areas, but the County's own transfer tax does. Confirm with your escrow officer.
