Zip code 91107, Mar 2026 to May 2026, from the Redfin Data Center. Pasadena spans 91101 to 91107; figures are 91107, the east side of the city. Areas like the Arroyo, Linda Vista and South Pasadena border run higher. Zip codes don't line up neatly with neighborhood borders, and medians hide a wide range of homes, so treat these as a rough feel for the area.

The anchor
The Gamble House and the Arroyo

Brothers Charles and Henry Greene designed the Gamble House in 1908 as a winter home above the Arroyo Seco, and it became the landmark of the American Arts and Crafts movement. Its hand-shaped teak, deep eaves and sleeping porches set the template for the Craftsman bungalows that still fill Pasadena's streets, and the house is now a National Historic Landmark open for tours.

The homes

Pasadena is the Craftsman capital of Southern California. The Greene & Greene houses along the Arroyo, led by the 1908 Gamble House, inspired thousands of shingled bungalows with low-pitched roofs, wide porches and exposed rafters. Bungalow Heaven, a city landmark district in the northeast, has blocks of them nearly intact, and Madison Heights and Prospect Park add larger Craftsman, Colonial Revival and Spanish homes on tree-lined streets.

On the west side, the Arroyo and Linda Vista hold hillside homes and bigger Spanish, Tudor and Mediterranean estates on generous lots, many with views across the canyon. Closer to Old Pasadena and the Playhouse District you'll find condos, townhomes and 1920s courtyard buildings, plus newer mid-rise buildings near the Metro stations.

The feel

  • Old Pasadena along Colorado Boulevard has restored brick storefronts, alleys of shops and restaurants, and the Rose Parade route every New Year's Day.
  • The Rose Bowl and the Arroyo Seco: the 1922 stadium sits in a wide canyon park with a golf course, trails, and a popular 3-mile loop around the bowl.
  • Culture: the Norton Simon Museum, the Pasadena Playhouse, and The Huntington just next door in San Marino.
  • Caltech's campus, with its Spanish and Mediterranean buildings and gardens, sits a few blocks south of Colorado, and the San Gabriel Mountains fill the view to the north.

Eat, drink, shop

  • Union (Union St). A small Old Pasadena spot for house-made pasta, and a Michelin Bib Gourmand pick. The Infatuation
  • Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery (Green St). Midwestern-leaning American cooking with a cheese counter, known for playful takes like baked potato dumplings. The Infatuation
  • Osawa (Raymond Ave). A longtime Japanese restaurant for shabu shabu, sukiyaki and sushi. The Infatuation
  • Ferrazzani's Pasta & Market (Lincoln Ave). An Italian market and deli turning out big sandwiches on baguette. The Infatuation
  • Old Sasoon Bakery (Allen Ave). An Armenian bakery for warm manaiesh, beorags and other savory pastries. The Infatuation
  • Howlin' Ray's (Arroyo Pkwy). Nashville-style hot fried chicken, with beer and wine. The Infatuation

Getting around

Pasadena is the hub of the west San Gabriel Valley. The 210 runs east and west through the city, the 134 heads to Glendale and the Valley, and the 110 Arroyo Seco Parkway, which opened in 1940 as the first freeway in the West, winds south to Downtown. The Metro A Line stops at stations including Del Mar, Memorial Park and Lake, with a one-seat ride to Union Station. Off-peak, Downtown is often 15 to 25 minutes, and Burbank about 20.

What's new

  • North Hollywood to Pasadena BRT. Construction began in Pasadena in spring 2026 on this 19-mile bus rapid transit line with dedicated lanes linking Pasadena, Eagle Rock, Glendale, Burbank and North Hollywood. Metro is targeting service by the 2028 Games. (Metro)
  • Olympic soccer at the Rose Bowl. LA28 announced in February 2026 that the Rose Bowl will host the semifinal and gold-medal soccer matches at the 2028 Olympics, its third Olympics after 1932 and 1984. (NBC Sports)

Good to know

  • Its own city. Pasadena has its own permits, zoning, utilities and design review. Landmark districts like Bungalow Heaven, and individually listed historic homes, have rules for exterior changes. Check with the City of Pasadena Planning before planning a remodel.
  • The Eaton Fire. In January 2025 the Eaton Fire burned through Altadena, just north of the city, and into parts of northeast Pasadena, destroying thousands of structures. Rebuilding is ongoing. Ask about a home's history, and view official damage maps through CAL FIRE.
  • Fire zones and insurance. Homes along the foothills, the Arroyo and Linda Vista can sit in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, which affects brush clearance rules and insurance. Get insurance quotes early in escrow.
  • Century-old houses. Craftsman homes deserve careful inspections of foundations, sewer lines, wiring and original windows. I'll pull permit records and line up the right inspectors for you, and if you want my opinion on anything, just ask.
